As the saying goes, “You can fool a few of the people all of the time, some of the people most of the time, but not all of the people all the time.” Evidently, Arlen Specter and his union cronies thought they could fool all of the people all of the time. Recently, however, he found that the people are a whole lot more informed than he had thought. Ever the saavy politician, Specter sought to save his political career by switching party affiliation from Republican to Democrat. Further, he sought to further appease the unions by publicly proclaiming his support for a cloture vote on EFCA. The voters saw through these thinly veiled attempts to hold on to his career and walked Specter out of office.
As I pointed out in “The Devil at My Doorstep,” today’s union organizing has much less to do with employees’ welfare or social justice than getting their political candidates elected so laws can be passed to ensure union membership growth and viability. After all how often did Specter flip-flop in order to take care of his union buddies and secure re-election? He is a pure example of everything that is wrong with the current political landscape and the union’s involvement in steering government policy!
How can a man be willing to sacrifice hundreds of thousands of jobs to get re-elected? I would sum it up in a few words: ego, greed and power. The American people are showing the career politicians in Washington that this sort of behavior will no longer be tolerated! Please read the attached article and see if you agree that it has nothing to do with altruism!
